Ed deGroat
My life has been a life filled with artistic endeavors - starting
with music and now with photography. I’ve gone from aural to visual
stimuli; continuing to marvel at the emotional impact of hearing my
son play jazz or the joy of capturing an image that, in a split second,
can be different or lost, never to be seen again in the same way.
Because of my fascination with the full range of arts I have named
my business Global Arts.
I have become more aware of my attention to detail. Analyzing
the harmonic progession in a string quartet or noticing the structure
of a church’s architecture because the detail gives me incredible pleasure.
I am the music director of the West Hartford (CT) Music Theater.
I have been fortunate to have worked with many clients on photograhic
projects that have been well-received. Of special mention is my work
with the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center (Hartford, Connecticut), Oil Drum
Art, SOMA Dance Company, Department of the Arts (West Hartford, CT Public
Schools), Connecticut Humanities Council and Real Art Ways.
I believe that as long as I remain sensitive to aural and visual
stimuli, I will continue to appreciate the power of music and the beauty
in what can be seen: they all permit me to lead a balanced life.
